Curing meat was one of the most valuable lessons that I could have been taught by my grandmother next to creating the best tasting BBQ sauce. Along with getting my BBQ sauced approved on my own in the 1930’s, I also used a special “Rub” that I use to season my meat with. Back then, because there were no refrigerators, we had to find other ways to keep our meat pure. When our meat was being stored in the icebox, we would cure it with salt and along with curing came the seasoning. Mixing the herbs that we grew next to our home with the salt that we cured our meat with, came the famous "Rub". Though approved in the early 1930’s, it still is a hit today making my meat the best tasting meat complimented by the best tasting BBQ sauce you’ve ever had.
